Tuch was born in Syracuse, New York, but grew up in Baldwinsville, New York. He is the eldest of three siblings (younger brother and sister, who are twins) born to Carl and Sharon Tuch. His younger brother Luke commited to play hockey for Boston University.
Right wing and center who was selected 18th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild. He has also won a bronze medal for Team USA at the 2013 World U-17 Hockey Challenge and a gold at the 2014 IIHF World U-18 Championships.
He scored 44 goals and tallied 57 assists in 40 games with the Syracuse Jr. Stars of the Empire Junior Hockey League during the 2011-12 season.
He trained with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program team from 2012 to 2014, winning a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2013 World U-17 Hockey Challenge and gold at the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championships.
From 2014 to 2016, Tuch played collegiately for the Boston College Eagles in the Hockey East Association. He was named to the 2014–15 Hockey East Association Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team, tallying 14 goals and 14 assists his freshman year. In 2015–16, he contributed with 18 goals and 16 assists in 40 games, while heading to the NCAA Frozen Four with the Eagles.
Tuch was handed a three-year entry-level deal by the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL) on April 13, 2016. In his rookie professional season, after attending the Wild’s training camp, he was re-assigned to develop with AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild for the 2016–17 season. In 57 games, providing a power-forward game for Iowa, Tuch recorded 18 goals and 37 points in 57 games. In the second half of the season, Tuch received his first recall to Minnesota and made his NHL debut on February 4, 2017, with the Wild against the Vancouver Canucks. He appeared in 6 games with the Wild, not registering a point.
